Some of us go through challenges one at a time. For Matthew's family, life has brought several storms at once—health concerns, financial pressures, and uncertainty about the future. Yet through it all, they continue to face each day with remarkable courage, determination, and hope.
Matthew lives with myositis, a rare autoimmune condition that causes inflammation and weakness in the muscles, he is also prediabectic. The disease often brings significant pain and, on some days, makes even walking difficult. Despite this, Matthew continues to work hard in school and remains committed to his studies.
His brother, Jason, faces his own health concerns and is being monitored for thyroid-related issues while also living with vitiligo. Their parents carry their own health burdens, creating a situation where medical concerns are a constant part of daily life.
With only the father earning an income, the family often faces financial strain. Medical expenses can quickly accumulate, adding pressure to an already challenging situation. Yet what stands out most about this family is not their difficulties—it is their resilience.

Perhaps most inspiring is their willingness to care for others even while facing their own struggles. The family has opened their home to relatives experiencing difficult circumstances, providing shelter and support when it is needed most.
Matthew's journey has also been supported by the kindness of others. Generous donors stepped forward to support his education, helping him continue his studies despite the family's financial struggles. Our partner hospital, Bangalore Baptist Hospital, played an important role in helping identify Matthew's condition and guiding the family towards the care he needed.
